Richmond Park

Our project with Friends of Richmond Park and The Royal Parks began in 2018, when we conducted a small-scale preliminary survey of the site. In the spring of 2024, we continued our collaboration to conduct a large-scale survey of 150 camera traps of Richmond Park, funded by Friends of Richmond Park. There was significant interest from the community in taking part in the survey, with 70 volunteers aiding in the deployment and collection of cameras.

As a result of the great interest in the project, Friends of Richmond Park awarded us a grant to build a citizen science project on Zooniverse, enabling community engagement of their 3000 members through tagging of the dataset. The project is now available to the general public, gaining over 1400 volunteers worldwide helping to classify the images.

Classifying the dataset is now complete, however you can still the see the project online here and discover more about the wildlife of Richmond!
